Study Abroad

1 Quarter (Typically Fall Quarter of Senior Year)

  • Which universities can I go?
You can go pretty much to any university that you would like to go. The only limitation that you might have is if the university that you would like to go does not offer classes that match the DU curriculum.
Have in mind that the class name does not need to be exactly the same, the contents are the most important thing.
  • What classes can I take abroad?
You don't need to find a class to substitute for Engineering Design Project (ENGR 3313). You will be meeting with your group over Skype (more details will be provided at the beginning of the quarter before you go abroad).
Regarding all other classes you are responsible to find a respective equivalent class at the university that you would like to go. Meet and work with your academic advisor in advance so you can coordinate and figure it out which classes you will be taking abroad.
  • What if I can't find classes that match the DU curriculum?
Academic advisors will work with you to find the best solution that fits your situation.
  • Example
As an example, above you have the classes that you would typically take at DU in your senior year for a Mechatronics degree.
You don't need to worry about finding a match for ENGR 3313.
For ENEE 2611 and ENGR 3735 you will need to find equivalent classes for that.
For UCC any class equivalent to AI:Society or SI:Society will work. If you are done with all your UCC's then you don't need to pick anything extra.
At last for your Technical Elective you will be taking an equivalent engineering class at any topic that you would like.
  • Who should I contact if I have more questions?
Professor Matthew Gordon (ME students) or Professor Gonçalo Martins (ECE students)
